UX

WISE Systems

I’m building a small accessory that attaches to existing bins. It helps turn what goes into recycling into useful data, without replacing the bin itself.

Small sensor accessory attached to the rim of an existing recycling bin
Qwen-generated design study of a bin-mounted accessory. The enclosure and mounting details are illustrative, not photographs or final specifications of the WISE device.
Alternative enclosure study showing a compact sensor module clipped over a bin rim

A small addition.
The same bin.

The idea is to add sensing to a bin that’s already there. This second design study explores a compact enclosure and a simple rim attachment.

Illustrative form study; the final hardware may look different.

01

The starting point

I founded WISE Systems to better understand what goes into recycling. The idea is a compact add-on for existing bins, rather than a separate sorting machine.

02

What I built

I designed and manufactured prototypes in Fusion 360, brought the object-detection components together, and built the data pipeline and UI around them.

03

Making the data useful

Recognizing an object is only part of the job. I also work on how that information is organized and presented, so the interface connects back to what the machine is seeing.
